Dinner in a Bag

You can’t beat the convenience of dinner in a bag. I measure dry noodles and a mixture of spices into separate plastic bags, then store them in a paper bag with canned stewed tomatoes. This “pantry kit” gives me a head start on a hearty meal. Since I work late occasionally, my family just browns the ground beef, and soon dinner is simmering. —Darlene Brenden, Salem Oregon

To Make this Recipe You’ll Need the following ingredients:

Ingredients:

1 large onion, sliced

1 pound ground beef

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon chili powder

1⁄4-1⁄2 teaspoon pepper

1⁄4 teaspoon sugar

2 (14 1/2 ounce) cans stewed tomatoes

1 cup uncooked elbow macaroni

Instructions:

Sauté onion in skillet, add beef. Drain fat.

Add spices and tomatoes.

Cook noodles until almost tender drain.

Mix together the beef mixture and noodles. Enjoy.
